Without doubt, The Double Paradiddle-Diddle Drum Rudiment is not a standard drum rudiment. However, it is what we call in the drumming world a “Hybrid Drum Rudiment. Additionally, a Hybrid Rudiment is not considered a NARD rudiment. (AKA, National Association of Rudimental Drummers) or a PAS drum Rudiment (AKA, Percussive Arts Society). Hybrid drum rudiments are not as commonly known as the NARD and PAS rudiments, because there are not many sources, such as books and materials to learn the hybrid rudiments from. Subsequently, this is a shame because playing Hybrids tend to dramatically improve a players drumming skills because it will help develop the hands by exercising muscles in the hands and wrists.
